YVES SAINT LAURENT F/W 1977 Ruffled Silk Evening Coat Size XS

2450 EUR
An outstanding, rare and very, very special Yves Saint Laurent evening coat from F/W 1977. The coat is made from a rustling black silk taffeta featuring an intricate hand-screened floral print in muted shades of apricot, peach, pastel pink and mint green. The cut is incredibly refined, with great attention to detail. The coat is executed in a widely flared baby doll A-line and sits at knee-length. It has a ruffled stand-up collar, a generously ruffled hemline and billowing long sleeves with narrow cuffs (two buttons each). From the shoulders down to the bust the fabric is finely pleated on front and back - please have a look at the detail pictures. The coat features hidden side pockets and closes with a row of seven round black buttons from the neck down to the bust plus a hidden snap button below. The side seams have small slits at waist level you could run a belt through (see pictures with an exemplary belt). This piece quite versatile as you could wear it as a coat or as a dress, with or without a belt. In any case it is an outstanding Saint Laurent piece, incredibly refined and unique. 100% silk, unlined. Made in France. Reference pic by Arthur Elgort for Vogue Paris, August 1977.
